Utilising a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness Based Interventions, we help our clients to reach their goals in line with their values.
Utilising our specialist knowledge in Neuropsychology, we can provide therapy and targeted interventions for clients with an Acquired Brain Injury (e.g. stroke, dementia, traumatic brain injury, concussion) and Intellectual Disability which may focus on Adjustment to new circumstances, Grief and loss, and transitioning to a different set of cognitive functioning while focusing on strengths.
Cognitive Rehabilitation is an area of psychology which focuses on addressing difficulties in thinking skills that follow brain injury, trauma, or chronic illness. Interventions are tailored to specific goals of the client and may focus on supporting difficulties in a variety of thinking skills such as memory, attention, thinking speed, speech and communication difficulties, problem solving, planning and organisation, and executive functioning. Interventions may include relearning specific thinking skills, strengthening intact abilities, or learning new skills to compensate for lost ones.
We focus on helping you to understand signs of cognitive fatigue and how to plan and organise your day to help minimise the impact of cognitive fatigue on your day-to-day functioning. This is done via a range of strategies such as increasing insight and awareness into current level of functioning, setting meaningful goals, helping you to plan and organise your daily activities, all with the aim of helping you adjust to your new circumstances. We can provide psychoeducation and support to families and caregivers about changes in thinking skills and how to implement the use of cognitive strategies.
